About Quba Initiative.Quba Initiative is a non-profit voluntary organisation based in Manchester, England. Established primarily to facilitate the dissemination of Sacred Islamic learning, Quba Initiative endeavours to engage with the community on all levels.
Named after the area where the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, first settled after his migration from the city of Makkah and where the first mosque of Islam was established. This mosque being mentioned by God Almighty in the Qur’an as: ''a mosque founded from its first day on consciousness of God. . .” |
Established in 2009This consciousness of God, or Taqwa in Arabic, is what the Initiative aims to restore, build and maintain within the Islamic community in Manchester. So that we can, just as the early Muslims who migrated and those that welcomed them, form a community that will benefit all those around us spiritually, physically and financially.
“O people, give unto one another greetings of Peace; feed food unto the hungry; honour the ties of kinship; pray in the hours when men sleep. Even so shall ye enter Paradise in Peace.” This initial advice given by the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon, when he arrived at Quba speaks of this quality of beneficence and illustrates the importance of inculcating this within oneself. The example of the Muhajirun and Ansar epitomises the sacrifice, selflessness and beneficent nature of that blessed generation which was inherited by their followers from amongst the Salaf and those that came after them. |
Our GoalIn order to achieve this one must first equip themselves with the necessary tools for the job; the foremost of which is knowledge. Knowledge that will allow one to live according to the Prophetic example which is the benchmark by which we differentiate between good and bad; right and wrong; benefaction and impediment. This knowledge is what forms the basis of the great tradition of theAhl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah - People of the Way and the Group.
This tradition has been maintained and still exists due to the efforts of scholars who sacrificed the pleasures and relaxation of this world so that we can bask in the effulgent rays of Divine Knowledge and Wisdom as revealed unto the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and transmitted from the Noble Companions to their students, who then passed it onto their students in a continuous chain reaching the Imams of our time. Our aim is to try and reconnect the Muslim (and by extension, non-Muslim) masses to this blessed chain so that by it and what it brings about they can redeem their lofty potential as the children of Adam and the nation of Al-Mustafa – the Chosen One. |
